Many gamers inquire about the compatibility of Audio Radar with various headsets. This article addresses the use of both wired and wireless headsets with Audio Radar, covering specific information for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation users.
General Compatibility
Audio Radar can be used alongside headsets, both wired & wireless. Connection and settings depend on the system.
A Note about Playstation
When using Audio Radar with any PlayStation console, there is a limitation for hearing gamers who want to use a headset while playing. This issue comes from the PlayStation audio settings, which limit the ability to output game audio to both Audio Radar and a headset simultaneously.
If both Audio Radar and a headset are connected and chat audio is enabled, the headset will only receive the chat audio, while the game audio will be sent exclusively to Audio Radar. This is a limitation of the console’s audio settings, not of Audio Radar itself.
We recommend checking your PlayStation’s audio settings to optimize your experience. Unfortunately, this limitation is inherent to the console's design, but we're always looking for ways to improve compatibility and provide better solutions.
PC
Connecting Wired Headsets:
- Plug your headset into the 3.5mm headphone port on the front of the Command Center or directly to your PC.
- Ensure Audio Radar is selected as your audio output device in Windows settings.
- Configure Audio Radar for 7.1 surround sound in Windows sound settings.
Using Wireless Headsets:
- Connect your wireless headset to your PC as usual.
Advanced Settings: Setup Voicemeeter Banana to route the audio to both your headset and Audio Radar for visual feedback. For detailed instructions, refer to the Voicemeeter Setup Guide.
Xbox
Connecting Wired Headsets:
- Use your standard headset setup with the Xbox controller.
- Connect the Xbox to the Audio Radar Command Center using HDMI.
Using Wireless Headsets:
- Connect your wireless headset to the Xbox.
- Ensure that the Xbox outputs game audio via HDMI to the Command Center while using the headset for chat.
PlayStation
Connecting Wired Headsets:
- Plug your headset into the PlayStation controller.
- Connect the PlayStation to the Audio Radar Command Center using HDMI.
Using Wireless Headsets:
- Connect your wireless headset to the PlayStation.
- Audio Radar will capture game audio through HDMI. However, you might experience issues with chat audio.
Compatibility Issues with PS Chat:
PlayStation users may encounter issues with chat audio not being routed correctly when using both Audio Radar and a headset. To mitigate this, configure the PlayStation to separate game and chat audio, ensuring game audio goes through HDMI while chat audio stays on the headset.
Troubleshooting
-
No Audio/Visual Response:
- Ensure all cables are securely connected.
- Check that the correct audio output is selected on your device.
- For wireless headsets, ensure they are paired correctly and the audio output is set appropriately.
