How to Use DisplayPort with Audio Radar

Learn how to properly utilize the Display Port connection for optimal performance with Audio Radar.

Use DisplayPort with Audio Radar for maximum Refresh Rates!

Using a DisplayPort with your Audio Radar setup can provide several advantages, especially for high-performance gaming. DisplayPort supports higher resolutions and refresh rates, ensuring smoother and more detailed visuals. This can enhance the overall gaming experience, allowing you to fully utilize the capabilities of your high-end monitor. Additionally, DisplayPort offers greater bandwidth, which can be beneficial for multi-monitor setups, reducing latency and providing a more immersive and responsive gaming environment. This makes DisplayPort an ideal choice for gamers looking to maximize their Audio Radar setup.    

Every setup is a little different. Here are the system details used to create this step-by-step guide: 

Device name: Audio Radar    
Processor:13th Gen Intel (R) Core(TM) i9-13900KF 3.00 GHz    
Installed RAM: 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)    
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor    
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti

Main Gaming Monitor (1): ASUS VG34V (3440 x 1440, 165Hz)    
 

  • Connected to PC via DisplayPort 
  • Connected to Audio Radar via 2.1 HDMI cable

Secondary Monitor (2): ASUS VG279QM (1920 x 1080, 239.76Hz)

  • Connected to PC via DisplayPort

Audio Radar (3): Audio Radar Command Center

  • Connected to PC via 2.1 HDMI cable
  • Connected to Monitor via 2.1 HDMI cable
     

*Note: For this tutorial, Audio Radar is required to be connected to a monitor and to your device. This is currently necessary for Audio Radar to receive audio signals. Despite the monitor connecting to Audio Radar via HDMI, the monitor will only use Display Port. 

 

 

Step 1: Duplicate monitor (1) with Audio Radar (3)

*Note: Numbers may be different depending on your setup. 

 

 

Step 2: Check that the main gaming monitor is set to desired refresh rate.

 

*Note: Ensure your monitor input is set to Display Port before continuing. 

 

 

Setting up the monitor settings are complete, now we will configure audio settings     
and VoiceMeeter settings.

 

Step 3: Close Voicemeeter

Be sure to completely close VoiceMeeter, making sure it is not running in the background.

Now configure Audio Radar for 7.1

Step 4: Open System Sound Settings and Select Audio Radar

Step 5: Scroll down and select More Sound Settings

Step 6: Under Playback Devices select Audio Radar

Step 7: In the lower left corner, select Configure

Step 8: Select 7.1 Surround

Step 9: Select Test* You should see Audio Radar lightbars reacting to each channel test audio.

Step 10: Click Next until complete.

Step 11: Run VoiceMeeter

Step 12: Left click Sound Output in the lower left corner of your screen.

Step 13: Select VoiceMeeter Aux Input as your sound output device.

Step 14: Open Sound Settings and choose Voicemeeter Aux Input

Step 15: Repeat steps 6-10 to configure Voicemeeter Aux Input to 7.1 Surround

Step 16: Open Voicemmeter

Step 17: Configure A1 to WDM : Audio Radar

Step 18 (optional): Configure A2 to your desired speakers or headset. In this example, Astro A40 MixAmp.

Step 19 (optional): Configure A3 to your desired speakers or headset. In this example, Audioengine 2+ desktop speakers.

Step 20: Ensure you are seeing the correct Hardware Out settings.

Step 21: Ensure A1, A2 and A3 are selected and highlighted.

Step 22:

  • Set A1 to Normal mode, this sets A1 to 7.1 surround.
  • Set A2 to Mix down A, this sets A2 to 2.1 Stereo.
  • Set A3 to Mix down A, this sets A3 to 2.1 Stereo.

*VoiceMeeter Tips

  1. Check options in below screenshot. Options located under the Menu.     
    This ensures VoiceMeeter starts every time you boot your PC.    
  2. Experiment with adjusting the levels of A1. This will boost footsteps and other sounds in the game.
